Stop Cat Spraying Inside your House

Do you have a cat that sprays outside the litter box? If yes, then you have smelled the horrible odor and experienced frustration when attempting to get your cat to stop spraying. To resolve the problem, you must first figure out what is motivating your cat to spray.

Territorial marking is the number one reason why cats spray. Felines are compelled to let others of their kind know that they are around. They may also spray when they are looking for a mate. If you have another cat in your home that fights with the culprit kitty, the spraying may be done to show aggression. Cats hanging around outside of your house can also cause your cat to spray. A move to a new home, the arrival of a new child, or other upsets to the cat's daily routines can cause the behavior. A cat that is under any kind of stress such as living in a noisy household can also resort to spraying.

Generally, male cats are the prime spraying offenders. But, some females will also spray, especially if they are in heat. The unique smell of spray is due to chemicals in the anal glands that are expressed along with a small amount of urine.

If your cat has not been neutered or spayed, doing so is likely to solve the problem. But, some altered cats will still spray. For the best results, the surgery should be performed before the age of six months.

One thing that you should not try is punishing your cat. Kitties do not understand the relationship between behaviors and punishment, and the stress may cause your cat to spray even more.

Regular cleaning and scooping of the litter box is important as some cats will spray as a form of protest against poor litter box maintenance. Keep routines consistent including bed time, play time, and feeding. When your cat sprays, be sure to clean the area with enzyme cleaner so that no odor remains. Otherwise, the cat may return to the same spot to spray again.

After trying measures to curb spraying, take your cat to a veterinarian. Bladder infections and other health issues can lead to the behavior. Drugs for anxiety such as Prozac can also be prescribed, since your cat could be anxious even if you are not aware of it.

For fighting cats, put them in separate parts of your home if possible. Unfortunately, sometimes the best choice is to give the spraying cat to a new owner. Neither cat will be happy if they are constantly picking fights. Especially if no other cats live in the new home, the cat may stop the behavior.

Another option if the spraying appears to be over territory is to confine the cat to a small area of your house. The feline will not have as large of an area to defend, and may decide to stop spraying. At least the number of messes to clean should be lessened.

Cat behaviorists analyze cat behavior and develop plans to change unacceptable actions like spraying to more desirable behaviors like using the litter box. They can be successful in working with you and your cat to develop better behaviors.

Worm? Help!?

When we got Annie, our new ktten, she wieghed 1.4. My mother comes by to baby sit her while I'm at work. I know my mom feeds her way too much. She feeds her four times a day and Annie steals my male and female cat's food, and they eat twice a day. Also my mom trys to feed her snacks like chips, apples, and other foods that are WAY to unsatiry for a kitten. Now she weighs 3.1 wich is werid because the way mom feeds her, she should wiegh 7.5. She also had diariea and puked twice. I've finally got a new kitty sitter on Sunday, but I'm not sure what to do with Annie. I'm taking her to the vet Monday. Can any one tell me what it might be? How do I help her? Do you need more info?

Your right about saying that she eats Things That she is not supposed to. Some human foods can kill cats. Its normal for kittens to snack constantly if your leaving the food down all day. If your feeding her on a schedule, four times a day is plenty for a kitten. Normally your could get away with 2 times a day, but if thats your prefernce then that will work. If you wanted to even leave the food down, for the kitten to eat as it wants until its older, you wouldn't be doing any wrong. But, since you have other cats in the house, they may decide to "snack" too. Most puppies and kittens inevitably have worms. Having diarreah and vomiting can be from the food that she has been eating (from your mom); but that can also be a sign of worms. It is best to get a vet appointment (like you say you have) to get her started on shots (if old enough - they usu start at 6wks old) and get her wormed for internal parasites. For now, there is not a whole lot you can do, except cutting out the abstract foods, and making sure to feed her 'kitten' food, and not adult cat food. If the diarreah gets bloody, you should start worrying, but she should be find until the weekend. Worms can kill pets no doubt, i have seen it happen several times (i work at a vet clinic) But unless she stops eating all together, stops drinking, can't keep anything down at all, and is just laying there I wouldnt worry about it. She should be fine throughout the weekend. Definately get her to a Vet on Monday though. The sooner the better.
By the way. DO NOT give her any medicine until you get to the vet. First, you don't know the dosage amount for your kitten and you don't know if that drug will interact with anything your Vet may give her. Keopectate you can give to dogs i know, but i don't know if it is safe for kittens. I have never seen it given to cats before, and you certainly don't want to eoverdose her on anything, because dogs' livers and cats' livers are very different, and some things that you can give a dog, you cna DEFINATELY not give a cat. I may be wrong, but unless your 100% positive that its safe, NEVER give your pet anything without contacting your vet first to make sure its okay. Also, they get Tapeworms from eating fleas, so if she has had fleas recently, then that is a possibilty, to find out for sure ask them to do a fecal because the normal wormer that they use on puppies and kittens is called Strongid, and that doesnt get tapeworms; you'd have to get a different type of wormer.

Disney's High School Musical is a Smash Hit

In January 2006, Disney released High School Musical 1 and it ended up proving to be their most popular and successful movie ever made.

It was the most watched film that year, and in December of 2006 it became the first Disney Channel Original Movie to be broadcast on BBC. More then 225 million viewers have watched this smash hit globally. High School Musical is also the first Disney Channel Original Movie to have made a sequel. In fact I have just seen High School Musical 3 and there is talk of a forth musical in the works.

The High School Musical soundtracks have been equally successful, with the first one becoming the top selling album in the US for 2006.

The movies was shot mostly at East High School in Salt Lake City, but the auditorium scenes were shot at Murray High School down town.

High School Musical is like a modern day Romeo and Juliet about two high school juniors from rival groups who fall in love. Personally, it reminds me more of Grease. Troy Bolton who is played by Zac Efron and Gabriella Montez, played by Vanessa Hudgens, are a well suited pair of leads. Troy is the captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella is an exchange student who is rather nerdy and excels in science and math. They try out together for a part in the high school musical, and the results of this divide the school. Despite all the hiccups, Troy and Gabriella resist the peer pressure and inspire others along the way not to 'stick to the status quo.'

Sharpay Evans who is played by Ashley Tisdale, is the high school diva, and she and her brother, Ryan try everything to sabotage the friendship between Troy and Gabriella and get themselves the leads in the school play.

There are a lot of characters in High School Musical, which allows for many actors to shine. Here is a list of the main characters.

Troy Bolton who is the most popular boy at East High School and the captain of the basket ball team. Gabriella Montez is a brain on the scholastic decathlon team. Sharpay Evans is a drama queen and only interested in being the star of the show. Sharpay has a side kick in the form of her camp brother, Ryan Evans. Chad Danforth is Troy's best friend, and plays a major role in the musical. Taylor Mckessie is Gabriella's best friend. She is also the captain of the scholastic decathlon team. Jack Bolton is Troy's father and also the coach of the basketball team. Ms. Darbus is the drama teacher. Kelsi Nielsen is the musical genius and composer of the musical. Zeke Baylor is one of Troy's and Chad's friends and is also on the team. He admits to enjoying baking. Jason Cross is another friend of Troy and Chad and plays for the same team. He is not the brightest student in class.

High School Musical received positive reviews from critics and movie goers. The album debuted at number 133 on the Billboard 200 and sold 7 469 copies in the first week of its release. By the third week it climbed to number 10 and as since been number one on the Billboard 200 twice. By August of 2006 more than three million copies had been sold, and it was rated quadruple platinum.

In August 2007, High School Musical 2 was also a smash hit. The third musical was entitled Senior Year and was released in October 2008. East Meets West which is the forth one in the series is said to be in the making. As Troy and Gabriella have moved on to college, their characters are not included in High School Musical 4.
